How great is our God.
I am so proud to call all of you my brothers and sisters in Christ <3
From the time Padina was 4 years old, she followed every rule of Islam. She rose at 2 a.m. for prayers, spent hours scrubbing the walls of her fundamentalist Islamic school and studied the Quran intently until 11 p.m. If Padina mispronounced a word in a prayer, she repeated her prayer from theĀ beginning.
But Padina could never reach Allah. “I never felt peace,” she said, “I would cry for hours to Allah, saying, ‘I am so far from you.’” She felt depressed and hopeless. So she made a plan to end her suffering. She and her terminally ill mother would take sleeping pills, turn on the gas in the kitchen and enter the prescence of Allah.
As Padina started to turn on the gas in the kitchen, she heard her mother’s TV in the living room. The words of a pastor on an illegal Christian satellite program from outside Iran grabbed her attention: “Why do you want to kill yourself tonight? Out God is so powerful that He can change your life. Give Jesus one week!”
Repulsed, Padina decided, “I will pretend to invite Jesus for one week in my life; I can show Christianity for the false religion that it is. Then I will kill myself live on their program and embarrass the God of the infidels.” She prayed the prayer of salvation with the pastor. “My body got very hot,” she said. “The second I said ‘amen,’ a peace came upon me that I had never felt before.”
The next morning, Padina awoke to something she hadn’t seen in months. Her formerly disabled mother was up and walking. Padina rushed her to the hospital for testing. When the doctors saw the blood work and the MRI, they said, “This is a miracle! She is cured! Which imam did you pray to?”
“Jesus,” Padina replied. “I prayed to Jesus.”
Today, Padina has a new plan. She serves as a leader in Iran’s underground church network, spending her days sharing Jesus with anyone who will listen. As a Christian, she faces the possibility of imprisonment and death every day. As a top leader of the underground church, the Iranian government sees her as a most-wanted criminal.
Will you join us in praying for Padina and other members of the persecuted church?
